Dear Ten for Himmers,
I was visiting with two Messianic Jewish Missionaries from out of the country.
As they were speaking about South Africa and their experiences there it occurred to me that I had the money and should give it to them. Then our verse, Philippians 4:19 went through my head. I thought to myself, “Yeah, I know that already…”.
Then, one of the missionaries told me how, years ago, he had been robbed at gunpoint by four gunmen in his home. Every bit of his wealth and inheritance were taken from him. As the thieves left, he called out after them, “Hey guys, I forgive you in the name of Jesus!” .
This was a very high profile case, and his forgiveness shocked the community where he lived. The story was actually televised and in the newspaper.
He told me that after the robbery, he was bewildered and asked God, “Why?” and then God reminded him of the verse Philippians 4:19, “My God shall supply your needs according to his riches and glory in Christ Jesus.” When he said that I KNEW the money was supposed to go to them. I almost fell out of my chair!
They are a peaceful, humble and amazing couple. The accepted the money graciously and will use it to help the poor in South Africa.
P.S. If he could forgive armed gunmen who took everything he had, I am thinking you and I can forgive others for lesser offenses….: )
