The morning we were supposed to meet for our first Ten for Him of the year, I was in the counselor’s office at our school. I was waiting in the lobby when I overheard a women talking to the counselors about how her husband had taken their children from a state far away and she had finally tracked them down to Texas. She was desperate for help and information. I left there and immediately went to our Ten for Him meeting. Like I said, this was our first meeting of the year. I knew if my name were drawn who I would give the money to. Well, as God would have it my name was drawn! I quickly left the Ten for Him meeting (not telling anyone there what I was going to do with the money) and called the counselor’s office to let them know I had something for the woman in the office this morning. The counselor’s were waiting out in front of the school for me as a drove up. They, too, had collected some money to give her. A few days later, one of the counselors walks every night in our neighborhood and she had put a note (see below) in my mailbox from the woman.
It read:
Dear Ten for Him,
Thank you for your gift of $210.00. That gift was more than a cup of water to a stranger-me. The gift was a miracle. Thank you for thinking about me. Thank you for praying for me. Thank you for not looking the other way. May the blessing of the good Samaritan rain on you. May the dew of Heaven fall upon your homes. Through your kindness, God has shown me that “He will never leave me nor forsake me.” Your generosity is a proof to me that “He will supply all my needs according to His riches through Christ Jesus”
Thank you!! May His awesome presence be with you and your families. Amen
Needless to say, when I finally got to tell our group about her, everyone wanted to help even more. She needs a job and one just “happened” to come open that one of our ladies knew about and she needs a place to stay while she fights for custody of her children so hopefully God will be working to make that happen as well!
This was our amazing God at work—what a blessing it was to all of us!
