I was carrying the money around, but to be honest, I had been working a lot, and with Christmas and all, had not been paying enough attention to what God wanted me to do with it. So, don’t ya just love it – God just put it out there like a great big in my face duh! Moment. I pulled into Target early one morning to pick up something and as I parked I noticed a single man walking across the parking lot, all bundled up, and behind him he was dragging a suitcase. To me at that moment, it was clear he was the one. So I got the money in the envelope out, made sure the verse was over the top of the bills and said a prayer. I asked God to show me he was the one by making sure I ran into him. Sure enough, there he was where he had stopped walking, just to the left of the door I was headed toward. He was bent over – hands on his thighs, like he didn’t feel well or was really tired, and I asked him if he was OK and he said Yes ma’am. Then I asked if he was feeling OK, and he replied Yes ma’am. So I said OK, and handed him the envelope and told him to have a nice day. And then – cuz I’m dumb – I went inside. I was thinking, I guess, that he might come inside and pick up things he might want or need and that I would see him inside and we would talk. But apparently it was I who was going inside to pick up things I wanted and needed – not him, and so when I came out of the store he was gone. But I have to say – when I handed him the envelope and smiled and told him to have a great day, he looked up at me (cuz he was still bending over with his hands on his thighs) and just stared at me. It was cool. I wish I would have stayed and talked – and learned his story. But as I lamented my missed opportunity I decided this one was about him and God I guess – and my job was to deliver and get out of the way. I don’t know if he was homeless or traveling on a long journey – but I do know if you are walking across a parking lot pulling a suitcase behind you – that $100 and a word from God must be helpful.
Thank you for this group and the opportunity to be a part of it!
