Friends,
My son plays lacrosse here in town, and has three really great coaches. At our tournament last weekend I was speaking to one coach’s wife, and just in conversation learned of the many emotional and financial challenges that they face, including that she is in the midst of her second treatment for a rare type of breast cancer. Although she shared with me that her husband’s employer had recently offered to help with their incredible medical expenses, they were still a little concerned about the upcoming holidays for their two children. As I said, just a conversation, all shared with a happy heart; she was not complaining at all. I, of course, had no recollection that I had $90 in my car, ripe for giving and parked 50 feet away…. it takes me a while to catch up.
Well, we missed the next practice, and after that God brought this coach to my mind, even more so than his wife. He is caring for her physically, cooking for the family, working at his job, and coaching lacrosse. And I just felt that he needed a blessing. I had completely forgotten that I was missing $10 from one of our gang, but decided that I would give the money to him. Lo and behold, I had an email yesterday at 2 pm that Stephany had left the money under my mat, and we were heading to practice at 5.
I don’t know him well, so I asked our team mom to give him my envelope with the money and an explanation. She e-mailed me later that she was honored to help in the giving, and that he was incredibly thankful for the support.
Thank you all for the time and money you gift to this ministry. I cannot remember partaking in any activity that has brought me so much peace.
Have a blessed day!
